The Penn State women’s golf team finished in seventh place at the 54th-annual Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic, hosted by the University of Georgia, according to a March 30 announcement.
The tournament featured a competitive field of 16 teams. After a challenging first round, Penn State improved its performance over the following days and concluded the event with a total score of 28-over par.
Host team Georgia won the championship at 11-over par, finishing three strokes ahead of Rutgers, which placed second at 14-over. Indiana took third place with a score of 20-over, followed by High Point (22-over) and Florida Gulf Coast (24-over).
Freshman Audrey Lam led Penn State individually by climbing six spots on the leaderboard in the final round after shooting a one-under-par 71. She finished tied for eleventh overall with a total score of three-over-par for the week. Sophomore Hannah Rabb also posted an under-par round—a one-under-par 71—in her second round but ended up tied for twenty-ninth at nine-over after giving back some strokes in her final round.
Other notable performances included sophomore Jiratchaya Jiratthitinun, who rebounded from an opening-round six-over-par to finish tied for forty-second at eleven-over. Freshmen Lillian Guleserian and Mara King completed their weeks at fourteen- and seventeen-over respectively. Playing as an individual, sophomore Lauren Thompstone finished ten-over and tied for thirty-fourth.
Penn State will compete next week in Maryland at the Terrapin Invitational on April 5-6 before heading into its final regular-season event—the B1G Championships scheduled for April 24-26.
