The Penn State women’s golf team will participate in the second-annual Terps Invitational hosted by Maryland at the University of Maryland Golf Course on April 5 and 6. The event is set to be the final competition for the Nittany Lions before they head to the Big Ten Championships later this month.
The tournament serves as an important preparation for Penn State, offering one last opportunity for players to refine their skills against a strong field. The format includes two days of play, beginning with a pair of 8:30 a.m. shotgun starts and featuring 36 holes on Sunday followed by an 18-hole round on Monday.
This year’s field includes three other Big Ten schools—Maryland, Wisconsin, and Michigan—alongside teams such as Delaware, Florida Atlantic, Georgetown, Harvard, High Point, James Madison University (JMU), Kentucky, Navy, Notre Dame, Richmond, Virginia, and Yale. Last year at this event’s inaugural edition—which was won by Michigan—the Nittany Lions finished tied for eighth out of fourteen teams. Then-freshman Jiratchaya Jiratthitinun secured a top-10 finish at two-over par.
Penn State’s lineup remains unchanged from recent tournaments with freshmen Audrey Lam leading alongside Mara King and Lillian Guleserian; sophomores Hannah Rabb and Yaya Jiratthitinun complete the starting five. Sophomore Lauren Thompstone will again compete individually after her performance last week in Georgia. Lam leads with a season stroke average of 72.22 and has recorded two top-10 finishes so far this season.
Looking ahead, Penn State is scheduled to compete in the Big Ten Championships from April 24 through April 26 at Oakmont Country Club in Glendale, California.
