The University of Pennsylvania women’s lacrosse team defeated Cornell 8-7 in overtime at Schoellkopf Field on April 18, securing a place in the 2026 Ivy League Tournament.

This win gives Penn a 5-1 record in Ivy League play and clinches the #2 seed for the tournament. The Quakers will face Princeton, seeded third, in the semifinals hosted at Yale.

Catherine Berkery led Penn’s offense with five points, including three goals and two assists. She scored the game-winning goal less than two minutes into overtime after Regan O’Brien provided an assist following a draw control by Maggie Bankowski. Other contributors included Eden Welch with two goals, as well as Emma Hrzich, Patricia Columbia-Walsh, and Avery Le each adding one goal. Goalkeeper Orly Sedransk made eleven saves on seventeen shots faced to help secure the victory.

Bankowski recorded eight draw controls during the match while Natasha Yajadda caused four turnovers on defense for Penn. The Quakers opened strong with three early goals but saw their lead challenged as Cornell responded and eventually tied the game late in regulation to force overtime.

With this result, Penn improves its overall record to 7-6 ahead of its final regular season non-conference matchup against Towson on April 22 at Rhodes Field.
