The University of Pennsylvania women’s lacrosse team, ranked number 25 nationally, will play its last regular season road game against Cornell on April 18. The match is set for noon at Schoellkopf Field in Ithaca, New York.
This game holds significance as both teams are competing for position within the Ivy League standings. Penn enters the contest with a record of 6-6 overall and 4-1 in Ivy League play, while Cornell stands at 8-5 overall and 3-2 in conference games.
Penn has historically held an advantage over Cornell, leading the all-time series 34-18. The Quakers are on a three-game winning streak against the Big Red, including an 18-10 victory last year where midfielder Anna Brandt tied a program record by scoring nine goals. Cornell’s most recent win over Penn came in Ithaca during the 2019 season.
In their previous outings, Penn split two top-25 matchups—defeating #21 Princeton in double overtime thanks to Lela Greene’s decisive goal and falling to #5 Yale in a defensive battle. Patricia Columbia-Walsh contributed seven points across both games, while goalkeeper Orly Sedransk posted double-digit saves each time. Catherine Berkery leads Penn this season with 32 goals and has accumulated a total of 39 points.
Sedransk has also been recognized for her strong performances this year with preseason All-American honors and inclusion on the Tewaaraton Award Watch List. On defense, Natasha Yajadda leads with thirteen caused turnovers; Maggie Bankowski tops draw controls for the team with fifty-eight through eleven games.
Cornell recently improved its conference record after defeating Harvard. Ellie Bergin leads their offense with thirty goals and thirty-three points, while Ella Wilmot is credited with twenty-one assists this season. Mackenzie Clark is expected to start as goalkeeper for Cornell.
Looking ahead, both teams will use this matchup to strengthen their positions before postseason play begins.
