Penn women’s tennis falls to Yale in season finale, 4-2

The University of Pennsylvania women’s tennis team lost to Yale on Apr. 19 in New Haven, with a final score of 4-2.

This match marked the end of the season for Penn, which finished with an overall record of 11-12 and a conference record of 2-5 in Ivy League play. The loss came against #40-ranked Yale, who clinched the Ivy League title with this victory.

Penn started strong by winning the doubles point. Esha Velaga and Lara Stojanovski won their match at first doubles, while Joleen Saw and Maya Urata secured a win at second doubles. In singles play, Velaga earned another point for Penn by defeating Orly Ogilvy in straight sets.

Despite these early successes, Yale won five out of six singles matches to secure the overall win. Other notable results included Leena Friedman defeating Stojanovski and Shyla Aggarwal beating Saw.

With this result, Penn’s season comes to a close as they look ahead to future competitions.
