PennDOT District 12 has announced that four bridge replacement projects will commence next Monday, affecting roadways in Greene, Fayette, Washington, and Westmoreland counties. The closures are set to begin on June 23 at approximately 7 a.m. and will continue through mid-September.

In Greene County, the closure will affect Route 3018 (Behm Road) between Blacks Creek Road and Whipkey Ridge Road. The detour for this area includes Route 3001 (Aleppo Road), Route 21 (Roy E. Furman Highway), Route 3022 (Bristoria Road), Route 3005 (Long Run Road), and back to Route 3018.

Fayette County’s Wharton Township will see Route 2003 (Wharton Furnace Road) closed between Greenhouse Road and Fayette Springs Road. The detour involves Route 40 (National Pike) and Route 381 (Elliottsville Road).

In Washington County, North Strabane Township’s Route 1055 (Thomas Eighty Four Road) will be closed between Regency Drive and Long Drive. The detour is via Route 1055, Route 1006 (Linden Road), and Route 1051 (Wilson Road).

Westmoreland County’s Fairfield Township will have a closure on Route 1067 (Laughner Road) over Snyders Run between Orchard Hollow Road and Route 259 (Coal Pit Road). The detour uses the same roads.

The respective county maintenance department bridge crews will demolish the existing structures, replace them with precast concrete box culverts, and widen the approaches. Each project represents a $750,000 infrastructure investment.

PennDOT advises that all work is contingent upon weather and operational conditions. Motorists are urged to remain alert, follow posted signs, and adhere to speed limits for safety.
