The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced the closure of a Route 3010 (Elmwood Street) bridge near Lemont starting Monday, June 9. This closure is part of a bridge rehabilitation project aimed at improving the structure’s ride quality, extending its service life, and enhancing its overall condition rating from fair to good.
The bridge spans Route 322 near the Route 26-State College exit in College Township, Centre County. During the closure, drivers will be directed to follow a detour using Pike Street and Route 26. PennDOT anticipates that the bridge will remain closed until mid-September, with all work being weather-dependent.
The rehabilitation work includes concrete beam and deck repairs, installation of reinforcement bars and new strip seals, an epoxy overlay, approach paving, pavement marking, and other miscellaneous construction tasks. This project also involves two other bridges in Centre County. Work on a Route 504 bridge spanning Wallace Run in Boggs Township was completed during the 2024 construction season. Repairs to a Route 26 bridge spanning Route 322 were finished this week.
H&P Construction Inc., based in Kulpmont, PA, is managing this $1.4 million project.
