The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced an online plan display for the Route 2005 (Roundtop Road) structure replacement over Iron Run in Londonderry Township, Dauphin County. The project aims to replace the existing single-span steel rolled beam bridge, originally built in 1934 and rehabilitated in 1948, with a new structure featuring a composite concrete deck and prestressed concrete box beams.

The proposed bridge will include a concrete deck and PA Type 10M bridge barrier. Additional work involves placing rock scour protection at parts of the existing abutments, reconstructing pavement along roadway tie-ins, and installing MASH-compliant guide rails where applicable. The new roadway configuration will have two 11-foot lanes and 4-foot shoulders tapering into existing widths.

During construction, which is expected to begin in 2027 and last about six months, the bridge will be closed to all traffic. A detour using Route 341 (Colebrook Road) and Route 2002 (Schoolhouse Road) will be implemented. Access to driveways within project limits will be maintained.

The project plans are available online until July 2, 2025. PennDOT encourages public input on the project’s potential impact on cultural resources under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. Project documents can be provided in alternative languages or formats upon request.
