The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced the closure of two state highways in Middletown Township, Delaware County, for base repair operations. These activities are part of ongoing projects to repair and pave over 200 miles of state highway in the Philadelphia region.

Elwyn Road will be closed from Monday, July 14, through Friday, July 18, between Baltimore Pike and Route 352 (New Middletown Road), from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. During this period, motorists will be redirected to use Baltimore Pike and Route 352.

Similarly, Barren Road will also be closed during the same dates and times between Painter Road and Ridley Creek Road. Drivers will be directed to alternate routes via Painter Road, Rose Tree Road, and Ridley Creek Road. Local access will remain available.

Motorists should expect delays and are advised to allow extra travel time near these work areas. All scheduled activities depend on weather conditions.

These resurfacing projects involve repairing, milling, and repaving state highways with new asphalt pavement for improved safety and smoother driving surfaces. Motorists can check real-time road conditions at www.511PA.com or through the 511PA smartphone app.
