The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has introduced enhanced real-time travel information on its 511PA website to assist those traveling to the Little League World Series in Williamsport. The new feature is part of Governor Shapiro’s initiative to provide accessible digital services across the state.
The dedicated page on the 511PA website, found at www.511PA.com/map/page/LLWS, offers detailed traffic monitoring for primary routes leading to the event. These include Route 15 south to Route 220 and Market Street from the north, Route 15 north from the south, Interstate 80 east to Route 220 north from the west, and I-80 west to Route 15 north from the east.
“With this enhancement, our goal is to minimize congestion on the roads and focus on safe travel by providing motorists with as much information as possible,” said PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll. He encouraged travelers to use the service for planning their routes effectively.
The web page provides average travel times for main routes and alternative paths, along with updates on incidents, construction work, traffic cameras, and speeds. Additionally, PennDOT’s Central Region Traffic Management Center will display real-time travel data on changeable message signs throughout the event.
Carroll advised drivers in Williamsport to expect changing traffic patterns and increased pedestrian activity. “This week, and always, please drive safely,” he added. He reminded motorists that using a phone while driving is both dangerous and illegal in Pennsylvania.
Travelers are urged to “Know Before They Go” by checking road conditions via www.511PA.com. The service is free and available around-the-clock through various platforms including a smartphone app for iPhone and Android devices.
