The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced on March 12 that public comment will be accepted from March 15 through April 14 for the proposed Pittsburgh International Airport Autonomous Vehicle Shuttle Project.

According to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the Allegheny Airport Authority is sponsoring the project and would oversee implementation of an automated passenger shuttle system. The system would operate along a dedicated guideway connecting landside parking facilities, amenities, and the new landside terminal at Pittsburgh International Airport.

A detailed project analysis has been prepared by PennDOT in conjunction with the Allegheny Airport Authority. This analysis addresses aspects such as the project’s anticipated location, type of transportation facility and service, estimated costs, contract term, potential social, economic, and environmental impacts, relevant federal and state laws, and alternative delivery models to the proposed public-private partnership approach.

Pennsylvania’s public-private partnership law requires PennDOT to make this analysis available for public review before any consideration by the P3 Board. The analysis and supporting documents will be accessible during the comment period at www.pa.gov/P3comment. Comments can be submitted online at this website, by email to ra-pdpitenhancements@pa.gov, or by mail to PennDOT P3 Office in Harrisburg. All feedback received during this period will be collected and considered prior to any action by the P3 Board.

Individuals needing special accommodations or assistance with reviewing materials or submitting comments may contact PennDOT’s Bureau of Equal Opportunity by email at beodot@pa.gov or phone at 717-787-5891; TTY users may dial 711. More information about transportation projects involving public-private partnerships in Pennsylvania is available according to the official roster page.
