The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced on March 23 that it is inviting residents to share their feedback on winter road services through an online survey. The department said the survey is available until April 14 and takes about five minutes to complete, with all responses remaining anonymous.

PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll said, “I’m incredibly proud of how the PennDOT team met the mission across Pennsylvania this season, working around the clock to keep people and goods moving. The public’s input through this annual survey helps us review perceptions and knowledge of our operations, while we also look for public information opportunities.”

The 17-question survey asks participants about their expectations for safe and passable roadways, how they prioritize snow removal, and their assessment of PennDOT’s winter services. It also gathers information on how respondents receive roadway updates from PennDOT and whether or how they use the state’s 511PA traveler information services.

During winter months, www.511PA.com provides standard traffic and incident details as well as real-time plow-truck locations, winter roadway conditions, and other related services. Drivers can check conditions on more than 40,000 miles of roadway at any time using the free 511PA service, which operates around the clock and offers traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, speed data, and access to over 1,200 traffic cameras. The service is accessible via a smartphone app for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.

Information about planned and active construction projects can be found at www.pa.gov/DOTprojects. Residents may also subscribe to local or statewide PennDOT news updates through the department’s website according to the official roster page.
