The Pennsylvania General Assembly began its 2026 legislative session on January 6. The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) Pennsylvania team announced it will be advocating for policies aimed at supporting small businesses during this session.
According to NFIB, the organization’s main priorities include repealing accelerated sales tax prepayments, providing a discount for sales tax collection and remittance, implementing regulatory reform and increased transparency in permitting processes, advancing website ADA compliance legislation, and addressing apprenticeship ratios.
NFIB also announced that its annual Economic Forum is scheduled for Monday, February 2, 2026, in Harrisburg. More details about the event are expected to be released soon.
Additionally, NFIB urged members to take action regarding pending legislation that would allow individuals who have not lost their jobs but voluntarily went on strike to receive full unemployment benefits. “Lawmakers are considering a bill that would provide full unemployment benefits to those who have not lost their jobs, but who have voluntarily gone on strike. Tell your legislators to oppose this bad idea.”
