Pennsylvania State Senator and U.S. Army Combat Veteran Tracy Pennycuick announced on June 2 updated details for her fourth annual Women Veterans Day Commemoration, an event that honors the service, sacrifice, and contributions of women who have served in the military.

This year’s ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, June 10 at 10 a.m. in the Ryan Office Building Atrium of the Pennsylvania State Capitol in Harrisburg.

Pennycuick sponsored legislation establishing June 12 as Women Veterans Day in Pennsylvania and continues to focus on recognizing the role of women in the armed forces throughout the state. “The Women Veterans Day Commemoration is an important opportunity to recognize the courage, dedication and sacrifice of Pennsylvania’s women who have served in uniform,” Pennycuick said. “As a veteran myself, I am proud to continue this annual tradition and honor the women whose service has strengthened our military and our nation.”

Pennycuick has engaged in public service through her military career and roles on veteran boards, contributing to community support for veterans and law enforcement; she served 26 years in the U.S. Army including active duty and reserves, retiring as a lieutenant colonel after assignments such as Desert Shield/Desert Storm. She began her military career by enlisting as a combat medic before earning a Bachelor of Science in business administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She won election to the Pennsylvania Senate in 2022 after serving previously in the General Assembly. Pennycuick resides with her husband—a fellow U.S. Army veteran—in Harleysville along with their four grown children and two grandchildren, according to the official website.
