A Philadelphia man has been indicted on charges of impersonating a federal officer and committing robbery at an auto repair shop in Northeast Philadelphia. The announcement was made by United States Attorney David Metcalf.

According to the indictment, Robert Rosado, 44, allegedly entered the business on the 6400 block of Harbison Avenue on June 8, 2025. He is accused of identifying himself as a federal immigration officer before restraining a female employee and stealing $1,000 from the premises.

If found guilty, Rosado could face up to 23 years in prison and a fine of $500,000.

“This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence, and to make our neighborhoods safer for everyone. On May 26, 2021, the department launched a violent crime reduction strategy strengthening PSN based on these core principles: fostering trust and legitimacy in our communities, supporting community-based organizations that help prevent violence from occurring in the first place, setting focused and strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring the results,” according to the statement from U.S. Attorney Metcalf.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI Philadelphia Violent Crimes Task Force and the Philadelphia Police Department. The prosecution is being handled by Assistant United States Attorney Ashley N. Martin and Special Assistant United States Attorney Meghan A. Farley.

Authorities emphasize that an indictment contains only allegations; all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
