Philadelphia Union II lost to Toronto FC II by a score of 2-1 on Friday night, May 30. Academy amateur Matheus De Paula scored for the second consecutive match, but his goal was not enough to secure a result for Union II.

Toronto FC II took the lead in the 41st minute when Fletcher Bank scored with an assist from Campbell-Dennis. The home team extended their advantage early in the second half, as Tristan Blyth found the net in the 51st minute, again assisted by Campbell-Dennis, making it 2-0.

Union II responded ten minutes later through Academy midfielder Matheus De Paula, who scored from well outside the box in the 61st minute. This goal narrowed Toronto’s lead and gave Philadelphia momentum as they searched for an equalizer during the remainder of the match.

Despite increased pressure from Union II after De Paula’s goal, they were unable to break through again before full time and finished with a 2-1 defeat on the road. Philadelphia Union II will next travel to face Crown Legacy at Sportsplex at Matthews on Friday, June 5 at 7:00 p.m., with coverage available on OneFootball.
