Philadelphia Union will return to Subaru Park on April 18 for their first home match of the month, facing rivals D.C. United at 7:30 p.m.
The match comes as the Union seeks to build on momentum from their recent victory in Montreal, which marked their first Major League Soccer win of 2026. The team had struggled with a six-game streak without points before securing a comeback win, thanks to second-half goals by Japhet Sery Larsen and Jesus Bueno.
Saturday’s fixture is a rematch of the season opener, where Philadelphia fell 1-0 in Washington, D.C., following a goal by former Union striker Tai Baribo. Both teams have faced challenges this season; D.C. United has two wins, four losses and one draw so far and sits ninth in the Eastern Conference standings with seven points. Most recently, D.C. was eliminated from Open Cup play after losing on penalties to One Knoxville SC—a rare early exit for a Major League Soccer club.
Baribo has missed two matches due to injury but could return against his former club for his first appearance at Subaru Park since leaving during the offseason. “We always want to face the best opponents, and a D.C. United with Tai Baribo is certainly a force to be reckoned with,” Head Coach Bradley Carnell said Thursday. “We are preparing and planning accordingly, but we cannot control what we cannot control. Whether he’s in the building, traveling or not, that’s a narrative we cannot drive and control, so we’re only focused on us and the team that we think will play.” Carnell also said Danley Jean Jacques is back training while managing his knee injury; Agustin Anello’s status remains uncertain as he recovers from an earlier injury.
Jesus Bueno commented on how important it is for Philadelphia Union to capitalize on their recent away win: “We have been struggling to find the wins, but you have to start somewhere. We have to take advantage of these three away points, and utilize as motivation for this home game,” Bueno said. “I believe we are in debt with our fans, and we talked about using this win as motivation… because they will be needed to get into a playoff spot and keep our fans happy.”
