Philadelphia Union announced on May 24 that midfielder Kellan LeBlanc has been signed to a short-term agreement and will be available for the club’s match against Inter Miami CF.
The signing allows the club to add depth to its roster in accordance with Major League Soccer rules. Per the 2026 MLS Roster Rules and Regulations, teams may sign players aged 25 or younger from their affiliate teams under up to four Short-Term Agreements each season, not exceeding 16 days total. A player can appear on up to four league match rosters per season but is limited to playing in no more than two league matches during those agreements. Players may participate in any number of non-league games while under these contracts.
“Philadelphia Union announced today they have signed Union II midfielder Kellan LeBlanc to a short-term agreement and he will be available for the club’s match tonight against Inter Miami CF,” the team said in its statement. The club also confirmed, “This is the first short-term callup for LeBlanc in 2026. The midfielder has started 10 matches in MLS NEXT Pro this season with three assists in nearly 800 minutes.”
Philadelphia Union features a roster of professional players on its main team, achieved the Supporters’ Shield in 2020 for best regular-season performance, operates out of Subaru Park—a soccer-specific stadium—and maintains youth programs and community initiatives, according to the official website.
As Philadelphia prepares for its upcoming fixture with additional support from LeBlanc, observers will watch how this move impacts both team performance and player development within Major League Soccer.
