Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf (D) recently announced more than $19 million in grants for projects to boost the state’s beer and wine industry.

According to Pennsylvania Pressroom, the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) has awarded $1,925,319 in grant awards to 15 projects to increase production of Pennsylvania-made malt and brewed beverages and enhance the Pennsylvania beer industry. Grants will be used to fund promotion, marketing and research-based programs and projects.

“Pennsylvania industries have to adopt new ways of doing business in the COVID-19 world, and these grants will provide substantial funding to help two vital parts of our agricultural community, not only explore ways of improving production methods, but also boost marketing efforts that reach beyond our borders,” Wolf said, according to Pennsylvania Pressroom.

In 2016, Act 39 established the Pennsylvania Malt and Brewed Beverages Industry Promotion Board as part of the Department of Agriculture. It also authorizes the PLCB to award grants up to $1 million each year for the development and marketing of the beer industry in the state.

Seven beer projects were awarded $925,319, and eight wine projects were awarded $1 million for this round of grants.

PLCB has awarded $3.9 million in grants to support the Pennsylvania beer industry since 2017, but not including 2021.
