PPL Electric Utilities announced on May 11 that its employees volunteered a total of 660 hours during April, which is recognized as National Volunteer Month. The company reported that 129 employees participated in eight events across its 29-county service area, including communities such as Allentown, Harrisburg, Scranton, and Williamsport.

The initiative highlights the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting local neighborhoods and nonprofit organizations. According to PPL Electric Utilities President Christine Martin, “Empowering the communities we serve goes hand in hand with delivering safe and reliable power. When our employees volunteer, they’re not just donating time, they’re strengthening the communities they call home. That service creates lasting, positive impacts for our neighbors and helps make our region a better place to live.”

Many of the volunteer activities coincided with Earth Month and included planting trees, improving community gardens, distributing pollinator plants, painting projects, and general cleanups aimed at refreshing public spaces.

While April marked the first major volunteer effort of the year for PPL Electric Utilities employees, additional activities are planned throughout 2026. These include preparing a community garden in Allentown in May and participating in Schuylkill United Way’s annual Day of Caring event—one of the company’s largest yearly initiatives. Other efforts will support events like the Little League World Series and environmental improvement projects across Eastern and Central Pennsylvania.

The company stated it remains committed to expanding its hands-on service efforts each year through teamwork and engagement with local communities.
