Rep. Brendan Boyle, who represents Pennsylvania’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, used his social media platform this week to comment on rising living costs and political responsibility for a potential government shutdown.

On September 11, 2025, Boyle posted: “Life in America is getting more unaffordable with every passing day.

Trump keeps claiming he’ll lower prices, but the only thing he has done is enrich his billionaire friends.”

Later that same day, Boyle addressed concerns about a possible government shutdown: “Republicans control the White House, the House of Representatives, and the Senate.

If there is a government shutdown, it will be because Republicans want one.”

On September 12, 2025, Boyle continued his criticism by quoting and translating a statement attributed to Donald Trump: ‘”Don’t even bother dealing with them”

Translation: Donald Trump wants a government shutdown.’

Brendan Boyle has served in Congress since 2015 after replacing Allyson Schwartz. He previously represented constituents in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 2009 to 2015. Born in Philadelphia in 1977 and currently residing there at age 46, Boyle graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
