Rep. Brendan Boyle, a U.S. Congressman representing Pennsylvania’s 2nd district since 2015, has voiced strong criticism of the ongoing government shutdown and its impact on health care costs in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) dated October 9, 2025.

In one post, Boyle wrote, “We’re over a week into an entirely avoidable Republican shutdown. But they refuse to negotiate because they don’t care about the consequences. My neighbors can’t wait — premiums are rising right now. Pennsylvanians can’t afford even higher health care prices.” (October 9, 2025).

Later that day, Boyle addressed his constituents and broader national concerns, stating, “The proud working people of Philadelphia, of Pennsylvania, and across the nation are loud and clear: don’t let Republicans steal our health care. I won’t back down in this fight. We must save health care for millions of Americans and end this Republican shutdown.” (October 9, 2025).

Boyle also questioned federal spending priorities in another post: “No money for health care for Americans, but $20 billion for Argentina?!?” (October 9, 2025).

Boyle was born in Philadelphia in 1977 and continues to reside there. He previously served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 2009 to 2015 before entering Congress. Boyle is an alumnus of the University of Notre Dame, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1999.
