Rep. Brendan Boyle criticizes Trump administration over Ukraine policy and budget director’s absence

Rep. Brendan Boyle, a U.S. Congressman representing Pennsylvania’s 2nd district since 2015, has used his social media platform to criticize former President Donald Trump and his administration’s policies on Ukraine and the economy.

On March 25, 2026, Boyle addressed Trump’s stance on Ukraine in a post: “Trump’s demand that Ukraine hand their own land to Russia is a shameful betrayal and a gift to Putin. Giving in to Putin would threaten Ukraine, Europe, and the United States. America must stand with the brave Ukrainian people — not reward Putin for his unprovoked brutality.”

The following day, March 26, Boyle questioned the absence of Russell Vought, former Trump Budget Director and architect of Project 2025: “This morning, I have one question — where is Trump’s Budget Director Russell Vought? The architect of Project 2025 has gone completely missing in front of the Budget Committee, probably because he can’t defend the administration’s disastrous, unpopular economic record.”

Later that same day, Boyle reiterated his concerns about Vought’s absence from testimony before Congress: “Why won’t Trump’s Budget Director Russell Vought testify in front of the Budget Committee? Maybe it’s because he can’t defend the president with the worst economic approval since the Great Recession. Maybe it’s because Trump broke his promise to lower costs.”

Brendan Boyle was born in Philadelphia in 1977 and currently resides there. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1999 with a BA degree. Before serving in Congress starting in 2015—replacing Allyson Schwartz—he served as a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 2009 to 2015.
