Rep. Brendan Boyle, Lead Democrat on the House Budget Committee and U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania’s 2nd district, used his social media platform in early December 2025 to criticize former President Donald Trump’s economic claims and policies. In a series of posts, Boyle challenged Trump’s assertions about economic growth and accused him of favoring billionaires over working families.

On December 2, 2025, Boyle wrote: “Trump will claim that he’s brought in $17 trillion — sometimes it’s even $18 trillion. As Lead Democrat on @HouseBudgetDems, I haven’t seen a dime come in, especially not for working families. It’s all a con. The only people benefiting under Trump are billionaires.”

The following day, he continued his critique: “In Trump’s economy, the billionaires always seem to come out just fine. It’s everyone else who gets stuck with higher prices, less health care, and now fewer jobs. Hard to call that a success for the American people.” (December 3, 2025).

On December 4, Boyle addressed cost-of-living issues and recent political events in Pennsylvania: “One day, the cost-of-living crisis is a ‘con job.’ The next day, he’s flying into Pennsylvania to pretend he’s fixing it. The real con was his promise to lower prices. Pennsylvanians know it’s all bullshit.”

Brendan Boyle has served as U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania’s 2nd District since 2015 after succeeding Allyson Schwartz and previously represented Philadelphia in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 2009 to 2015. Born in Philadelphia in 1977 and currently residing there at age 46, Boyle graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1999.
