Rep. Brendan Boyle, a U.S. Congressman representing Pennsylvania’s 2nd district since 2015, used his social media platform on April 15, 2026, to criticize former President Donald Trump’s handling of the economy.

In a post published at 00:43 UTC, Boyle stated: “Trump has been a disaster on the economy, and everyone knows it. We’ve had stagnant job growth, one of the biggest gas price increases in our lifetime, and inflation is back up, all thanks to his economic policies and his war with Iran.”

Later that day at 15:08 UTC, Boyle continued his criticism by referencing Trump’s campaign promises: “Trump promised to lower prices ‘on day one.’ He lied. He didn’t lower prices. He has made it worse.”

At 16:07 UTC on the same day, Boyle reiterated his concerns about the state of the economy under Trump and OMB Director Russell Vought: “Job growth is shrinking, gas prices are skyrocketing, and inflation is up. Why? Because of Trump and his OMB Director Russell Vought’s disastrous policies. It’s no wonder their economic approval is the worst in 20 years. Americans know Trump failed them.”

Brendan Boyle has represented Pennsylvania’s 2nd District in Congress since replacing Allyson Schwartz in 2015 and previously served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 2009 to 2015. Born in Philadelphia in 1977, he continues to reside there today. Boyle graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a BA in 1999.
