Rep. Brendan Boyle, who represents Pennsylvania’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently announced on his social media account that he led legislation to rename the Bustleton Post Office in honor of Sgt. Christopher Fitzgerald, a Temple University police officer killed in the line of duty.
On September 16, 2025, Boyle posted: “On Sunday, I officially renamed the Bustleton Post Office in honor of Sgt. Christopher Fitzgerald, a Temple police officer tragically killed in the line of duty.
I’m glad legislation I led made this small but fitting tribute possible for a life devoted to serving our city.”
The following day, Boyle reiterated his involvement and participation with Fitzgerald’s family: “I was proud to rename the Bustleton Post Office after Sgt. Christopher Fitzgerald, who was killed on duty in 2023.
I joined Chris’s family to honor his life’s work which embodied the best of our city.
Now, this post office is a permanent reminder of his legacy and service.” (September 17, 2025)
In addition to these posts about Sgt. Fitzgerald and the post office renaming, Boyle marked Constitution Day by referencing Philadelphia’s historical significance: “On this day in 1787, our nation’s founders met in Philadelphia to sign the Constitution.
Today and every day, I’ll continue fighting to secure the blessings of liberty for all Americans.
Happy Constitution Day!” (September 17, 2025)
Brendan Boyle has represented Pennsylvania’s 2nd District since replacing Allyson Schwartz in Congress in 2015 and previously served as a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 2009 until his election to Congress.
