State Rep. James Rigby announced on Apr. 22 that he will host a free concealed carry seminar for residents on Thursday, May 7, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Cresson Township Volunteer Fire Company in Cresson.
Rigby said the event is intended to help permit holders understand their responsibilities as Pennsylvania has now issued more than 1.6 million concealed carry permits to residents. “The event I’m hosting is merely an attempt to ensure permit holders are aware of their responsibilities,” Rigby said.
The seminar is open both to current permit holders and those considering applying for a permit. “The seminar is designed for existing permit holders, as well as anyone who is considering applying for a permit,” Rigby said, adding that advance registration is requested by contacting his offices in Cresson, Ferndale or Somerset County.
Guest speakers at the event will include Cambria County Sheriff Don Robertson and Cambria County District Attorney Jessica Aurandt, followed by a question-and-answer session after their presentations.
Rigby serves as the state representative for the 71st Legislative District according to the official website. He represents areas in Cambria and Somerset counties, including several townships and boroughs according to the official website. In addition to legislative work focused on committee assignments such as communications, judiciary, liquor control and veterans affairs according to the official website, Rigby’s public service includes addressing community needs like the opioid epidemic and blighted homes while drawing on experience from roles in local government and organizations supporting domestic violence victims according to the official website.
Looking ahead, Rigby’s continued engagement with constituents through events like this seminar reflects his ongoing focus on community issues within his district.
