Congressman John Joyce congratulated Franco Doydora of Juniata County on his acceptance into the United States Military Academy, according to a June 1 statement. Doydora, a graduate of Juniata High School and current sophomore at Dickinson College, was recognized for his leadership, academic achievement, and commitment to community service.
“With this extraordinary achievement, please join me in congratulating Franco Doydora on his appointment to the United States Military Academy,” said Congressman Joyce. “Franco’s leadership in and out of the classroom and his steadfast commitment to serving something greater than himself make him exceptionally deserving of this honor. As his Representative in Congress, I was privileged to nominate Franco to the U.S. Military Academy, and I am confident he will continue to showcase the best of Pennsylvania’s 13th Congressional District as he serves our great nation.”
Joyce also acknowledged those who supported Doydora throughout his journey, including parents RJ and Joanna Doydora. He extended gratitude to Juniata County School District Superintendent Christie Holderman and Juniata High School Principal Kelli Strawser for their mentorship during Doydora’s academic career.
John Joyce is currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Pennsylvania’s 13th district after replacing Bill Shuster in 2019; he has held this position since then, according to official sources. Joyce was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in 1957 and lives in Hollidaysburg; he graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a BS degree.
The announcement highlights continued recognition for students from Pennsylvania’s 13th Congressional District seeking opportunities at national service academies.
