Congressman John Joyce congratulated Katherine “Kate” Dunn of Martinsburg on her appointment to the United States Naval Academy, according to a May 8 statement.

Dunn, a senior at Central High School, was recognized for her leadership skills, academic achievements, and commitment to service. Her acceptance into the academy is seen as a result of sustained effort and determination.

“Please join me in congratulating Katherine Dunn on her well-earned appointment to the United States Naval Academy,” said Congressman Joyce. “Kate’s dedication to serving our nation, her strong academic record, and her commitment to excellence have distinguished her as a leader among her peers. As she takes this next step, I am confident she will represent our community with honor and distinction, while pursuing a future in service to our country. As her Representative in Congress, I was honored and privileged to nominate her to the U.S. Naval Academy.”

Joyce also expressed appreciation for those who supported Dunn during this process. He thanked Jenny and Chris Dunn for their guidance as parents and acknowledged Superintendent Dr. Betsy Baker and Principal Stephanie Thompson for their mentorship.

“Kate represents the very best of our community,” Joyce added. “There is no doubt she will excel as she begins this next chapter.”

John Joyce has served in the U.S. Congress representing Pennsylvania’s 13th District since 2019 according to Wikipedia.
