Rep. Kate Klunk announced on Apr. 20 that she will host a free document-shredding event for residents of the 169th District on Saturday, May 2, from 9 a.m. to noon in front of Arthur Hufnagel Public Library of Glen Rock at 32 Main St., Glen Rock.
The event aims to help constituents safely dispose of old paperwork containing personal information after tax season, addressing concerns about scams and identity theft. “Now that tax season has wrapped up, I am happy to provide an opportunity for my constituents to safely dispose of old paperwork containing their personal information,” Klunk said. “Sadly, scammers exploit the information found on personal documents. By shredding unneeded paperwork, we can help prevent scams and identity theft. As always, I am looking forward to seeing many friends and neighbors utilize this free service.”
Attendees are instructed to enter from State Route 216 (Main Street) and exit on Water Street. The service is limited to residential customers only; businesses are not permitted to participate. Paper clips or binder clips should be removed prior to arrival, but staples may remain attached.
Klunk’s event will also coincide with a book drive benefiting Arthur Hufnagel Public Library of Glen Rock, offering participants an opportunity to donate books during the shredding event.
Klunk resides in Hanover Borough with her husband Jared Laird and daughters Grace and Claire, according to the official website. She earned degrees in economics, history and public policy studies from Dickinson College as well as a juris doctor from The Dickinson School of Law at Pennsylvania State University according to the official website.
