Motorists in Northumberland County should prepare for a roadway project that will temporarily close a section of Route 125 in Coal Township. The closure is scheduled from Monday, June 9, 2025, to Sunday, June 22, 2025. During this period, the contractor will install a culvert under Route 125 between Point Breeze Road (Route 3004) and Bear Valley Road.

The project involves several tasks including culvert installation, paving, and line painting. A detour will be in place using Upper Road (Route 2044), Route 890, Route 225, and Route 61 for the duration of the work. Motorists can still access the Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area (AOAA) from the north via Route 125.

The AOAA has coordinated with local municipalities and emergency services to ensure awareness of the closure and its timeframe. H&K Group is overseeing this $790,000 project which also includes tree removal and roadway reconstruction.
