Penn State’s Rocquette Allen earned her fourth Big Ten Freshman of the Week award, the Big Ten Conference announced on Mar. 31.

Allen’s achievement places her among only eight women who have received this honor at least four times in a single season. Other members of this group include fellow Nittany Lions Madison Carter and Kristin O’Neill, as well as standout players from Northwestern, Maryland, and Ohio State.

In a recent game against Maryland, which was ranked third nationally at the time and is now first, Allen scored five goals and added an assist. She achieved a shooting percentage of 71.4% despite being closely guarded by Maryland’s top defender. Three of her goals came in the final 20 minutes during Penn State’s comeback attempt in the second half. Her six-point performance tied her career high for both goals and points in a game.

One highlight from that match was Allen’s no-look, behind-the-back goal while falling away from the net during the fourth quarter. This play was featured as number two on SportsCenter’s Top-10 plays of the day.

Throughout her freshman season so far, Allen has recorded 31 goals—second most for Penn State—and is one of three team members with at least 40 points this year. She also holds second place for both goals and total points by a freshman in the Big Ten conference this season.

The Nittany Lions are set to finish their road trip against Ohio State on April 5 before returning home to face Oregon on April 9.
