Traffic on Route 119 in Connellsville, Fayette County, will experience short-term stoppages next week, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT). The interruptions are scheduled from Tuesday to Thursday, July 15-17, weather permitting. Flagging operations and brief traffic stoppages of up to 15 minutes will occur daily between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Route 119 between Route 711 (Crawford Avenue) and Route 1031 (Pittsburgh Street Extension). This is to facilitate wire installation across Route 119 and the setup of new signal mast arms.
The single-lane restrictions that began in March will continue through October along the same stretch of road. PennDOT advises motorists to allow extra travel time and exercise caution in the work zones for safety reasons. All planned activities are subject to weather conditions.
This project is part of a $2.4 million infrastructure investment that includes replacing existing traffic signals at McDonald’s and Pittsburgh Street intersections and upgrading signals at several other locations. Sidewalks, ADA ramps, pavement markings, and signage at all intersections will also be upgraded. Bruce & Merrilees Electric Company is handling the construction work.
