Motorists in Northumberland County should prepare for a temporary closure on Route 125 in Coal Township. A roadway project is set to begin soon, necessitating the closure of Route 125 between Point Breeze Road (Route 3004) and Bear Valley Road. The closure will last from Monday, June 9, 2025, to Sunday, June 22, 2025.

The project involves installing a culvert under Route 125, along with paving and line painting. A detour will be implemented using Upper Road (Route 2044), Route 890, Route 225, and Route 61 during this period. Motorists can still access the Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area (AOAA) from the north via Route 125.

Coordination has been made with local municipalities, law enforcement, and emergency medical services to ensure that all emergency response agencies are informed about the closure and its timeframe.

H&K Group is leading this $790,000 culvert installation project. The work includes tree removal, culvert installation, roadway reconstruction, paving, and line painting.
