The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced a rescheduled date for the weekend-long detour on Route 56 (Quaker Valley Road) in Pleasantville, Bedford County. Originally planned for June 6, the detour will now begin on Friday, June 20, 2025. The project involves replacing an existing bridge structure over Barefoot Run tributary with an elliptical pipe.

The revised schedule will start with a single-lane closure under flagging traffic controls on the afternoon of June 20. At 7:00 PM that day, a 27-mile detour will redirect traffic using Route 96 (Cortland Road), Route 30 (Lincoln Highway), and Route 56 (Pensy Hollow Road/Quaker Valley Road). This detour will be in effect until 6:00 AM on Sunday, June 23, 2025.

Grannas Bros. Stone & Asphalt Co. Inc., based in Hollidaysburg, is handling the $7,290,201.17 project, which is expected to be completed by November. PennDOT advises motorists to exercise caution in work zones by driving slowly and staying alert to signage and flaggers.
