Russellton man sentenced to ten years for transporting minor for sexual exploitation

A Russellton, Pennsylvania resident has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for the sexual exploitation of a minor. The sentencing was announced by First Assistant United States Attorney Troy Rivetti.

Michael Rearick, 44, received his sentence from United States District Judge Robert J. Colville on November 25, 2025. In addition to the prison term, Rearick will serve 10 years of supervised release and must pay $20,000 in restitution to his victim.

Court records show that between April 21 and April 23, 2023, Rearick transported a minor from Pennsylvania to Canada with the intent that the minor engage in criminal sexual activity.

Assistant United States Attorney Heidi M. Grogan prosecuted the case for the government.

First Assistant United States Attorney Rivetti said: “Homeland Security Investigations-Pittsburgh, the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, and the West Deer Township Police Department are commended for their investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Rearick.”

The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to address child sexual exploitation and abuse. Project Safe Childhood brings together federal, state, and local resources to locate offenders who exploit children and rescue victims.
