West Chester’s American Helicopter Museum and Education Center (AHMEC), 1220 American Boulevard, offers a day of holiday cheer during its annual SantaFest on Saturday, December 11, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Santa lands at 11 a.m. to greet good girls and boys, hear wish lists, and give a surprise gift. He visits with each child in his colorful workshop within the museum.

The event also features holiday movies, fun crafts, and music by Keyboard Companions. Friendly therapy dogs from Paws for People add to the festivities.

This year AHMEC is proud to be a Toys for Tots collection site. Special museum discounts apply for bringing an unopened toy or purchasing one from the the museum store to donate to Toys for Tots.

Also new this year is the addition of the beautiful, all-volunteer restored Sikorsky HOS-1, “Gander Express,” to the Adopt-A-Copter program. This circa 1945 United States Coast Guard aircraft’s famous history entails the 1946 rescue of injured passengers and crew from a crashed Sabena Airlines DC-4 airliner in Gander, Newfoundland, which is how it acquired its nickname.

Need a more unique holiday gift than an adopted helicopter? What about a gift certificate for helicopter rides? Find more information at AHMEC’s website: www.americanhelicopter.museum.
