Rep. Donna Scheuren announced on June 3 that two career and technical education schools in the 147th Legislative District will receive grants from the Competitive Equipment Grants Program, administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

North Montco Technical Career Center and Western Montgomery Career and Technology Center are each set to receive $85,000, which is the maximum amount available through this program. The funding will be used to update or purchase equipment for training students in approved career and technical education programs.

“At a time when technical and skilled trades jobs are in short supply, investing in high quality training programs is essential,” Scheuren said. “This funding strengthens hands-on learning opportunities and helps ensure a strong, well-prepared workforce for the future.”

To qualify for this grant funding, school districts and career and technical centers must have eight or more Pennsylvania Department of Education-approved career and technical education programs. “Let’s continue to champion and invest in career and technical education so every student has the tools and opportunities they need to succeed,” Scheuren concluded.

Scheuren holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from The College of New Jersey, has served as chair of several legislative subcommittees including Automation and Technology as well as Highways, brings nearly 30 years’ experience as a manufacturer’s representative along with service on school boards, and resides in Lower Salford Township, according to the official website.
