The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced on December 29, 2025, that all 50 states will receive funding through the Rural Health Transformation Program. This program is a $50 billion initiative established as part of the Working Families Tax Cuts legislation.

Senator Dave McCormick (R-PA) responded to the announcement with a statement: “The Trump Administration today announced the largest federal investment in rural healthcare in American history, which will deliver hundreds of millions of dollars in additional funding to Pennsylvania. This significant investment, which I strongly advocated for through the Working Families Tax Plan, will help Pennsylvania expand access to care and improve health outcomes, strengthen our rural health workforce, modernize facilities with the help of technology, and support new and innovative care models. Quality healthcare will now be more readily available close to home for rural Pennsylvania families.”

The new funding aims to address challenges faced by rural communities by improving access to medical services and supporting advancements in healthcare delivery.
