A Sharon, Pennsylvania resident has been sentenced on Mar. 27 to 30 years in federal prison after being convicted of distributing fentanyl that led to serious bodily injury and death, United States Attorney Troy Rivetti said.
Laven Davis, age 33, received the sentence from Senior United States District Judge Reggie B. Walton of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. In addition to the prison term, Davis will serve three years of supervised release after his incarceration.
Davis was found guilty by a federal jury in October 2025 for distributing fentanyl on or about November 28, 2022. The incident resulted in the death of a 43-year-old woman from Hermitage. Evidence presented during trial showed that Davis supplied fentanyl to the victim despite her earlier request that day asking him not to provide her with any more drugs. The woman died early the next morning at her family’s home.
At the time he distributed the drugs, Davis was on state parole following his recent release from a state prison sentence for aggravated assault.
Assistant United States Attorneys Craig W. Haller and V. Joseph Sonson prosecuted the case. Rivetti recognized contributions from local and federal agencies including Mercer County District Attorney’s Office, Mercer County Coroner’s Office, Hermitage Police Department, and Federal Bureau of Investigation for their roles in investigating and prosecuting Davis.
The sentencing reflects ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to address opioid distribution cases resulting in fatalities.
