PennDOT District 11 has announced that single-lane restrictions will be in place on northbound Route 4003, also known as McKnight Road, in Pittsburgh and the surrounding townships of Ross and McCandless. These restrictions are scheduled to occur from Monday through Friday, June 16-20, weather permitting. The lane closures will take place between Perrymont Road and Venture Street from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily as crews perform concrete curb work.

This construction is part of a larger $26.99 million improvement project on McKnight Road that began in February 2024. The project spans from Venture Street to Perrymont Road and includes work on Babcock Boulevard/Evergreen Road. Key elements of the project involve bridge and culvert preservation, milling and paving, base repairs, drainage upgrades, pipe cleaning, guide rail improvements, signal enhancements, ADA ramp upgrades, waterline replacement, concrete mountable curb replacement, new signage, and pavement markings.

In addition to the northbound lane restrictions for curb work, remaining tasks in the southbound direction include drainage updates and side road adjustments under a lane closure. Northbound work will also involve side road adjustments and ramp work. The entire project is expected to conclude by summer 2025 with Lindy Paving, Inc. serving as the prime contractor.

To keep motorists informed about ongoing progress and traffic advisories related to this project, PennDOT has set up an email distribution list for updates on McKnight Road. Interested individuals can subscribe by sending their email addresses to nhaney@pa.gov with “Subscribe – McKnight Road” in the subject line.

Motorists can access real-time conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com or using the 511PA smartphone application available for iPhone and Android devices. This service provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to over 1,000 traffic cameras.
