State Rep. Brian Smith announced on April 15 that the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) will invest $284.2 million in 19 drinking water and wastewater projects throughout the state.

The funding will support a range of infrastructure improvements, including building a new wastewater treatment plant in Bedford County, replacing an ultraviolet system in Fayette County, and renovating sewer infrastructure in Somerset County.

“This investment strengthens the health, resilience and future of communities across our state, ensuring that every resident has access to safe, reliable infrastructure,” Smith said. “We look forward to delivering projects that honor this commitment and create lasting benefits for generations to come.”

Robert Boos, executive director of PENNVEST, said: “The approvals for these water quality infrastructure projects are an important component of PENNVEST support for clean water in Pennsylvania. The funding provided by PENNVEST delivers the financial backing necessary for communities to make improvements that ensure potable drinking water, adequate wastewater treatment, and stormwater management facilities to improve and strengthen a community’s quality of life.”
