The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced a soil remediation project scheduled for Wednesday, July 2, on westbound Interstate 78 in Lebanon County. The work will take place at Mile Marker 3.9, just east of the Lickdale Road overpass in Bethel Township. Weather permitting, the operation will run from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

During this time, the left lane and shoulder of westbound I-78 will be closed, while the right lane remains open. The project involves cleaning up a diesel fuel spill resulting from a truck crash. Drivers may experience delays and are advised to remain alert for slow-moving vehicles and construction equipment entering and exiting the roadway.

This work was initially set for June 18 but was postponed. Motorists can check road conditions by visiting www.511PA.com, which offers traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to over 1,000 traffic cameras. The service is free and available around the clock via its website, smartphone app for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or through local alerts on X.
