Pennsylvania small business owners met with state legislators and Treasurer Stacy Garrity during the National Federation of Independent Business’s annual Small Business Day at the Capitol on May 5. The event provided an opportunity for participants to discuss a range of issues affecting small businesses directly with elected officials.

Greg Moreland, Pennsylvania State Director for the National Federation of Independent Business, said, “Small Business Day allows small business employers to meet with lawmakers and elected officials to tell them directly how laws and regulations are impacting their Main Street business.” He continued, “We appreciate our members who traveled to Harrisburg and took the opportunity to advocate for Pennsylvania’s small business community.”

The event is part of ongoing efforts by the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) to connect its members with policymakers. The organization bolsters Pennsylvania communities by advancing the small business sector, delivers legislative updates and economic insights, focuses its advocacy on local businesses throughout Pennsylvania, influences policy through engagement with the legislature on behalf of small businesses, maintains nonprofit and nonpartisan status while supporting these enterprises, and provides legislative advocacy as well as economic reports for entrepreneurs across the state, according to the official website.

Small Business Day is one way NFIB seeks input from its members about policies that affect their operations. Attendees were encouraged not only to participate in discussions but also consider future involvement or outreach opportunities within NFIB.

The broader impact of such events includes fostering dialogue between lawmakers and those operating businesses on Main Streets across Pennsylvania. This engagement may influence future legislation or regulatory decisions relevant to local economies.
