The Pittsburgh Steelers announced on May 19 the signing of quarterback Aaron Rodgers to a one-year contract, marking his return for a second season with the team.

Rodgers first joined the Steelers as an unrestricted free agent in 2025. Last season, he started all 16 games he played, missing only one due to injury. He completed 327 of 498 passes for 3,322 yards, threw for 24 touchdowns and recorded just seven interceptions. He was voted as the team’s offensive captain during his first year with the franchise.

In his career spanning over two decades and across multiple teams, Rodgers has appeared in 264 games and started in 257 of them. His career statistics include completing 5,696 of 8,743 passes for a total of 66,274 yards and throwing for 527 touchdowns. He is ranked fourth all-time in NFL history with those passing touchdowns and fifth in both passing yards and completions. His interception percentage stands at just 1.4%, which is the lowest ever among players with more than 1,500 attempts.

Rodgers has received numerous accolades throughout his career: “Rodgers was named Associated Press Most Valuable Player four times in his career, joining Peyton Manning (five) as the only players to win the honor four or more times.” He is also a ten-time Pro Bowl selection and was named MVP of Super Bowl XLV after leading Green Bay to victory over Pittsburgh.

Tom Arth, quarterbacks coach who previously played alongside Rodgers during their time at Green Bay in the offseason and preseason of 2006 said: “He’s extremely focused and locked in,” said Arth. “He’s such a competitive player, but he has so much fun playing the game. And that’s what I really enjoy about Aaron.
“He loves playing this game. He plays the game like he’s still ten years old running around in the backyard.
At the same time, he’s got this ferocious competitive spirit that obviously helped push him to the heights that he’s reached.
“His football IQ is off the charts. What he’s able to process and see on a play-by-play basis, between plays, it really is uncanny. There are not many players who have been able to do the things that he’s done.”

The Steelers have achieved notable success historically with six Super Bowl championships according to their official website. The organization has honored legendary figures such as Terry Bradshaw and Joe Greene through its Hall of Honor according to its official website, which also highlights its affiliation as a National Football League member franchise.

The team features fan engagement opportunities through historical celebrations including displays at Acrisure Stadium’s Hall of Honor Museum according to their official website.
