The Pittsburgh Steelers announced on May 9 the signing of several undrafted free agents who will participate in the team’s rookie minicamp.
The move allows these players, who were not selected during the 2026 NFL Draft, an opportunity to compete for a roster spot and continue their football careers. The Steelers are known for providing such opportunities to emerging talent as part of their long-standing commitment to team development and success.
The newly signed players include Devan Boykin (cornerback, Indiana), Daylan Carnell (linebacker, Missouri), Kevin Jobity Jr. (defensive lineman, Syracuse), Laith Marjan (kicker, Kansas), Lake McRee (tight end, USC), and Chamon Metayer (tight end, Arizona State). Boykin played his final college season at Indiana after transferring from North Carolina State and appeared in all 16 games with 11 starts. Carnell contributed in 56 career games at Missouri with notable defensive statistics including five interceptions and four forced fumbles. Jobity started in 17 of his 38 games at Syracuse and finished with ten sacks over his college career. Marjan was a two-time Lou Groza Award semifinalist at Kansas after transferring from East Carolina. McRee recorded nearly twelve yards per catch over his tenure at USC, while Metayer tallied fourteen touchdowns across stints with Cincinnati and Arizona State.
The Steelers have a history of honoring past contributors through initiatives like the Hall of Honor and feature displays such as the Hall of Honor Museum at Acrisure Stadium that highlight significant moments in franchise history according to the official website. The team has achieved six Super Bowl championships throughout its existence according to the official website.
As members of the National Football League, the Steelers continue efforts both on-field through player development and off-field through community engagement programs as outlined on their official website.
