Penn State beats University of Iowa in Big Ten wrestling match: 'Little things make a big difference'

The Penn State wrestling team was completely unfazed by the by the University of Iowa's Carver-Hawkeye Arena, as Iowa's winning streak didn't seem to bother them at all.

Penn State versus Iowa was probably one of the most anticipated matches in the entire college wrestling season, as both these powerhouses never disappoint when they go toe-to-toe against each other.

"We're getting to the end. We have to do a better job. We know that. Little things make a big difference," Iowa Head Coach Tom Brands said in a YouTube video posted by USA Wrestling.

Penn State is ranked No. 1 with Iowa at No. 2 in the Big Ten. The Nittany Lions took six of 10 matches to win, 19-13, ending Iowa's winning streak. The Lions got turning-point decisions from Nick Lee, Carter Starocci and Max Dean and a bonus-point opener from Drew Hildebrandt.

Penn State is now 14-0 overall and 6-0 in Big Ten action, according to Fansided. Penn State had been winning seven matches, one after the other, by a combined score of 207-60 ever since they defeated Cornell 21-16 without a full lineup in December.

Iowa falls to 11-1, 5-1 Big Ten action. Iowa heavyweight Tony Cassioppi beat No. 2 Greg Kerkvliet 7-2 with strong takedowns at the end of the intense night.
