Gov. Tom Wolf (D-Pa.) was joined by the Fraternal Order of Police recently to honor those who died in the line of duty.

The event occurred at the State Museum of Pennsylvania in Harrisburg, according to a news release from the governor’s office.

The memorial service was the 27th annual observance for law enforcement officers from Pennsylvania who were killed while on the job. Ultimate Sacrifice Medals were awarded to officers who served from 2019 to 2021.

“Pennsylvania’s law enforcement officers are steadfast public servants who put their lives on the line day after day to protect their neighbors, community members, and fellow Pennsylvanians,” Wolf said. “Today, we stand in memorial for our fallen officers. We recognize their heroism, bravery, and selflessness that we all rely on.”

Joining Wolf were members of law enforcement from across the state and their families, along with local elected officials. The Color Guard was presented by the Capitol Police, F.O.P. Lodge #85, and the rifle salute was presented by the Philadelphia Police Department. The song "Amazing Grace" was performed by the Greater Pittsburgh Police Emerald Society Pipe and Drums.

“There are no words large enough, sentiment great enough, or thanks adequate enough to thank these officers for their sacrifice,” Wolf said. “We mourn with the families of these brave Pennsylvanians.”
