5.5% of citizens in Pennsylvania unemployed in 2021

Pennsylvania's unemployment rate hit 5.5% among residents aged 16 and 65 years old in 2021. That's 367,296 people out of the 12,970,650 living in Pennsylvania at the time, according to data U.S. Census Bureau data obtained on Oct. 26, 2023.

The unemployment rate in Pennsylvania has increased compared to the 5.3% registered in 2020.

The percentage of people unemployed in Pennsylvania was on par with the national unemployment rate.

Of the 6,304,013 people who had a job during that time, 8,419 were employed in the Armed Forces and 6,295,594 belonged to the civilian labor force.
