FOIA Request to Dekalb County Regarding Vendor Payments from January to September 2024.
On September 26, 2024, we at DeKalb Times submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) to Dekalb County. The request was specifically for a list of all payments made to vendors within the period of January 1, 2024, through September 26, 2024.
The requested records are expected to contain detailed information including the name of the vendor, the date of each transaction, a description of what each transaction entailed, and the amount involved in each case.
As a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we believe that access to such public records is crucial for our work. It enables us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
In line with this, we have requested that any fees associated with accessing these records be waived due to our role as a media organization disseminating information to the public.
We await a positive response from Dekalb County as we continue our mission of keeping the public informed about their government's activities.
